Cooper Sleepy Hollow Analysis

The dominant in the scene is the Headless Horseman and his horse. His horse is on its hind legs in the middle of the frame making the Horsemen the largest object on frame, dwarfing even the windmill in the background. The character proximics is personal because the Headless Horseman is almost on top of his victim having just killed the other character. The lighting is low to give the scene a grisly, dark atmosphere after the Horseman had just decapitated his victim. The camera proximics is personal because the camera is zoomed in on the Horseman and the body. This helps emphasize the point that both of the characters on screen are headless.

This frame shows the Horseman raising his sword in victory after having killed his target. This frame helps illuminate the feeling and atmosphere of the scene. The fog in the background and the low lighting helps the gothic feeling settle in as well as bringing more focus to the dark color of his horse. It also helps focus on the grisllyness of the dead body laying at his horse’s feet.
