Cole & Himmelberg, One Minute (and a half) film

  1. soo the idea is that Kristen has lost her necklace and begins a frantic search for it all over campus. We sped up the footage to enhance the idea that she was running around & frantic. We also decided to make it from her perspective as an added touch, except at the beginning and end.

Some difficulties were my camera to start with. Its new so I am still learning the ins and outs. But my 16 GB card wouldn't let me hold a lot of memory, so we had to keep putting footage on my computer and switching SD cards to keep getting footage.

  2. successes: Overall I think it turned out to be very successful film. I had the simple idea of someone losing something and us having to go all over campus looking for it. When we started filming we thought it would be really cool to do it as if it was through my eyes, so we went all over campus looking into things and around things it was a lot of fun and funny to make. Also we had a lot of fun editing, Amy is very good at that so she knew fun ways to make it look really cool.

failures: the only real failures were ,like Amy said already, her camera. We had a few glitches with it because it wasn't recording straight through as we originally wanted. We had to take like 2 minutes at at time or less and then start again and we had to run back to our rooms to get a new memory card and upload what we already had to the computer. We ended up having less time then we hoped to do it, but we hurried and got it done in time, with more than enough material to work with.

what I learned: I learned a lot about the process of making a film. I have never made a professional or even semi-professional film before (I've filmed different events but not a film with a story line or anything), so it was really interesting to do it. I learned about the editing process which is fairly easy and interesting. I will definitely be inclined to making more of my own films and editing pieces!

  3. Excellent comments, and excellent use of the little films within the film.
