Christian- Fenwick, The Social Network

The Social Network is a film about facebook, but what is really interesting about it is the way that it was presented. The narrative is chopped up into reflective passages punctuated by the present narrative of the testimonies. The way that is was edited was very smooth and it created an interesting narrative that both highlighted and hide the biases of the narrator. There were not a lot of long shots, but more medium length and close ups because the film was so much about the personal relationships of the characters, less about the setting and the concepts. This film was edited and directed to keenly focus on the intimate relationships, or lake there of, of all of the characters. The way that the scene above was constructed the entire focus is on Mark and who he is looking at outside of the frame.
