My avatar would be Giada De Laurentiis, an Italian American chef, writer, television personality, and the host of the current Food Network program “Giada at Home.” She also founded the catering business GDL Foods, and previously hosted two other Food Network shows known as “Giada's Weekend Getaways” and “Everyday Italian.”
To begin with, I felt Giada to be the perfect choice given our shared passions for cooking, writing, and health. Giada attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School (one of my dreams) and developed into a remarkable chef. She now shares recipes which maintain a happy medium between delicious and healthy. She has also published four cook books, one each year since 2006.
Another positive trait about Giada is that although she is a well-recognized TV personality and chef, she is famous for talent, success, and an inviting personality rather than her looks or partying. In short, Her fame is genuine and humble.
She is also married (to a designer for anthropology none the less) and has with one child. Yet she still manages to host her own show, stay out of negative media, and continue to be immensely successful. In addition to her TV program and catering business, she is also the spokeswoman for the pasta manufacturer Barilla, a food stylist for Food and Wine Magazine, and recently released her own line of kitchen supplies.
Although I don’t necessarily see myself as a “Food Network Star” type, I relate to Giada in the way she has been wildly successful, while also prioritizing her family (something that becomes quite obvious when watching her show), and constantly pursues her passions. She has a clear idea of what she loves, something realized at a young age, and has developed an enviable lifestyle out of it.
